[Kurukulla] Kurukulla Center needs your support

Dear Kurukulla community,

I hope you are well and finally enjoying our delayed summer. However, it's not only the weather that's dry…as often happens this time of year, our income has slowed to a trickle while our expenses remain at their usual level of about $8,000 a month.

Here's a breakdown of what it costs monthly to keep the Center going:

372

Our main expense is support of our four resident sangha members: Geshe Tsulga, Geshe Tenley, Ven Tsunma-la and Ani Yeshe: $2,500 a month. This includes groceries, stipends (which are really small!), health insurance (Geshe-la's is now almost $700 a month) and so forth. Our sangha not only do so much for the Center but they are also extremely powerful objects of offering and supporting them allows us to create great merit, the actual source of happiness.

Our utilities are $1,500 a month, mortgage, $1,245, translator fees $900…the rest you can also see on the chart.

It also takes a lot of work to keep the Center going. Most of this is done by volunteers, such as Sean Gonzalez (assistant director), Debra Thornburg (spiritual program), Ed Pignone (treasurer), Chayil Timmerman (maintenance) and others. Also, as above, the residents do a tremendous amount of behind the scenes jobs to make sure we continue to offer a wide variety of teaching and other programs for the benefit of all beings.

We ask for your partnership in keeping all this going by making regular contributions every month, either through your membership commitment or by taking on sponsorship, or shared sponsorship, of some of our monthly expenses, as summarized above. For example, if twelve people committed to cover Geshe-la's health insurance it would be only $58 a month each.

Thank you so much for your kind and generous support. Kurukulla is all of us!

Much love,

Nick Ribush
Director
